H.O.P.E.E. House will empower women who have suffered through addiction to endure the recovery process and bridge their past into a new lifestyle of sober living – clean and wholesome. She has a scholarship and is attending Metro State University of Denver where she is working toward an RN degree. She lives downtown with her son and works part-time while attending college full-time. Domestic violence can impact anyone, regardless of gender, age, economic status, religion, etc.
House of Hope provides comprehensive services that allow people with substance use disorders to thrive in recovery. House of Hope is the longest standing long-term SUD provider in Columbus, OH, providing services since 1959. She feels safe and is excited to provide an environment for Julian that is supportive and caring, two things she longed for as a child. She is drawing every day to practice her skills while raising her lively, talkative and energetic little boy.
After a stroke in June and a relapse in August of that year, he came back to Hope House Boston. He has since maintained a place to live paired with a sober, healthier lifestyle. For over 30 years, we have delivered specialized SUD treatment along with mental health services in our residential treatment program. We are licensed by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and are a certified Drug Medi-Cal program. Transitional residents are required to be gainfully employed and/or be attending school, along with continued recovery based involvement in the community. Alejandra found out that she was pregnant just days before her 17th birthday. An “A” student who had spent her first three years of high school taking IB and college classes, as well as working, Alejandra wasn’t sure what her life would look like as a teen parent. Alejandra hid her pregnancy until she was about six months along, and eventually told her parents and friends. She felt shamed and scared, and she was struggling with preeclampsia and migraines as she got closer to her due date. Eventually, Alejandra got connected to Hope House Boston through clinic staff at the office where she went to get ultrasounds.
Healthy and continuous sobriety requires many significant changes. The second component of our Hope House Boston program is our transitional housing. We provide successful residential graduates from our program and other recovery programs safe, supportive transitional living and case management.
With your help, we can build a brighter future for those impacted by abuse. Hope House Boston was started in 2003 with the goal of giving men a new start in a sober, family living setting. She has been living in the same duplex for two years, which is longer than she has lived anywhere in her life. Brittani and her boyfriend are working on their credit score so they can buy a house. After graduating from our program, our alums can receive free services from Hope House Boston via our weekly alumni group and open door policy. Once you graduate from our program, you are a part of the Hope House Boston family.
I would also like to chair meetings at N.A., which is something I started doing at Hope House Boston before my stroke. Services are targeted to address the needs of individuals with co-occurring disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), deaf or hard of hearing, HIV/AIDS, and mental illness. In an atmosphere of love and acceptance, the disease of addiction will begin to lose grip on a woman’s life; and, freedom with a feeling of wholeness begins to transform the perception of self.
Our evidence-based, gender specific groups provide the most up-to-date information and techniques to address addiction and other harmful behaviors. We work closely with the courts, probation, parole, and Children and Family Services to address legal issues and reunify individuals with their children when possible. Hope House Boston’s mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing safe refuge and supportive services that educate and empower those impacted by domestic violence. Hope House Boston will advocate social change that protects and engenders a person’s right to live a life free of abuse.
When it comes to keeping safe while in an abusive environment, Hope House Boston suggests creating a personalized safety plan to maximize your safety in times of abuse. Hope House Boston’s Domestic Violence Action Plan can help you develop strategies to stay safe while you’re still with your abuser and after you leave. Life felt so intensely depressing that Fatima feared she would have a miscarriage. Her living situation with family was chaotic and unsafe all throughout her pregnancy, but at 16—with little support or encouragement—she gave birth to her son Julian. Her family dynamics were difficult, and at an early age she felt neglected and left to fend for herself.

Brittani named her baby girl Deavyne and set out to create a different life for her daughter than she had known growing up. One of her friends told her about Hope House Boston, where she earned her GED so she could go on to college. She also met with her Hope House Boston mentor regularly and took Parenting classes at Hope House Boston. Brittani was born into poverty and chaos — and her mother struggled with cancer and her father with kidney failure. Dropping out of school in 10th grade, Brittani was pregnant by age 15 .
Hope House Boston’s Mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing safe refuge and supportive services that educate and empower those impacted by domestic violence. H.O.P.E.E. is an acronym for Helping Other People Endure by Empowerment and is pronounced as “hope”. Reinforcing “hope” is one of the stabilizers for successful recovery and is the primary focus of a short term residency at H.O.P.E.E. House.
